Novel D-A alternating polymers (PBDT-DFQx, PBDT-FQx), which respectively using Difluorinated Quinoxaline (DFQx), Monofluorinated Quinoxaline (FQx) as an electron-acceptor unit and an alkoxyl substituted benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene (BDT) as an electron-donor unit, were synthesized by a Stille coupling reaction using palladium catalyst. The resulting copolymers were characterized by TGA, GPC, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry measurements. PBDT-DFQx was more soluble in common types of organic solvents compared with PBDT-FQx. PBDT-DFQx and PBDT-FQx alike had good thermal stability above 311℃. Both of the polymers exhibited strong absorption in the range of 596 - 602 nm in o-dichlorobenzene solution state and 601 - 606 nm in film state. PBDT-DFQx and PBDT-FQx showed highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy level -5.66 eV and -5.52 eV respectively and displayed bandgap of 2.26 eV and 2.08 eV. |
