This presentation is aimed to recognise the importance of system interactions in water system design and to bring creative new design concepts into current engineering practices. Design methodologies for aqueous emissions reduction will be described to gain new design guidelines in water system design and provide a decision-support tool for sustainable development in chemical process industry. With the aid of the new and current available design methods, the performance of water-using systems could be improved and the aqueous emissions significantly reduced.
