제목 Dispersion Stability of Waterborne Polyurethane Dispersion  
초록  Recently, in automobile coating industry, eco-friendly waterborne coating technology became an important issue to reduce emission of hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during coating process. Among many waterborne coating materials, waterborne polyurethane dispersions (WPUDs) have widely been investigated for automobile rubber protection coating materials because of their outstanding mechanical and chemical properties. Despite of many advantages over solvent-borne system, WPUDs have one major problem, which is how to secure long-term storage stability under various environments because dispersion instability such as aggregation, creaming, and sedimentation often results in poor quality coating.
 In this study, we synthesized waterborne poly(carbonate urethane)s with high molecular weight and investigated their dispersion stability. Real-time monitoring up to 90 days was achieved by using Turbican technique. It is revealed that many factors such as solid content, ionic content, temperature, molecular weight of polymer, pH, and viscosity greatly affects dispersion stability of WPUDs.
