Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) have many applications in industry. As the silicon wafers become thinner, the acrylic PSAs need to be modified to show proper adhesion on the thin wafer. The acrylic copolymers were synthesized by solution polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, and acrylic acid with AIBN as an initiator. Adhesion performance of acrylic PSA was studied depending on the content of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and UV-curable resin. The characteristics of GMA/PSA blends were examined by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The adhesion performance of acrylic PSA was investigated using gel fraction, probe tack, peel strength, and rheological test. The adhesion property of PSA on thin wafer substrate showed a big difference after UV-curing by varying the GMA content. |
