Modelling of a one-dimensional sedimentation in suspensions
The constitutive equations describing the consolidation process are given, in which the notions of the filter velocity for solvent and the effective pressure for solid fraction are involved. The density profile of the deposit is determined numerically and verified experimentally with the help of ultrasonic method. The suspension used in experimental studies was prepared from water and peat. One states a good agreement of the theoretical prediction and the experimental data.
