Instability of the couette flow of two liquids differing in viscosities
Mixing of two miscible liquids of different viscosities is investigated in the Couette flow by means of a single decolourisation reaction and a system of two competitive-parallel chemical reactions. The first method is used to visualise mixing and accompanying it flow destabilisation, while the second one reveals how the hydrodynamic instability can affect the final selectivity of the complex reaction system.
