Porous plastics as sensor materials
PIEZOELECTRIC EFFECT AND ELECTROSTRICTION. Mechanical-sensory characteristics are usually based on the piezoelectric effect and on electrostriction. Newly developed cellular plastics show outstanding performance parameters. At present research and development is concerned with sandwich systems based on porous and compact plastic foils, from which still better characteristics are expected Here the possibility of active sound and/or noise insulation is of special interest to the user.
