For some time now, development of new vehicles has focused increasingly on improving noise development An important step in this regard is to reduce the noise emitted by noise sources on the vehicle. Aside from design measures for avoiding or encapsulating these noise sources, the choice of materials employed is of great importance. Processes have been installed in the laboratories of Rhodia Engineering Plastics both for measuring the vibro-acoustic properties of plastics and witha view to developing these materials such that they might contribute substantially to reducing noise emission from vehicles.
