New on-site hydrogen generation technique boosts unit efficiency
Using dry, pure hydrogen to cool an electric generator reduces frictional losses within the unit, increasing its efficiency and capacity and improving plant economics. An innovative hydrogen supply method-continuous hydrogen replenishment-is being used at Mirant's Dickerson, Md., plant in conjunction with on-site hydrogen generation. After one year, the results are promising.
