Synthesis and properties of polyurethanes made of secondary raw materials
Wastes of casted urethane elastomer (PUR) were mechanically disintegrated and treated with ethylene glycol (EG) at EG:PUR ratio 1:10 to 2:1 at 170-180 degrees C. The glycolyzates with EG:PUR ratio up to 1:2 were degassed at 70-80 degrees C under 300 Pa for 3-4 h, reacted with 4,4'-diphenytomethane diisocyanate at 60 degrees C for 30 min and with butylene glycol for 30 s. The product was gelated at 50-60 degrees C for 1.5 h and then aged at 80 degrees C for 6 h. The viscosity glycolyzates decreased with increasing EG:PUR ratio. The Schob elasticity of the final products was 18-32 %. The Shore hardness of the products increased from 850 ShA to 91 degrees ShA with increasing EG:PUR ratio. The ageing resulted in an increase in Schob elasticity and in a decrease in Shore hardness.
