Binding chromium ions during hydratation of mineral binders
Three mineral binders were prepd. and used for immobilization of Cr(+6) ions adsorbed from aq. solns. of Na2CrO4. The retted mortars were studied for microstructure (SEM) and chem. compn. (energy-dispersive spectroscopy). The Cr concn. in aq. exts. was detd. by mass spectroscopy. The highest degree of Cr immobilization (more than 96% after 180 days of the mortar curing) was achieved when the mortar contg. blast furnace slag (85%) was used as components of the binder.
