Precipitation of calcium carbonate in presence of urea
CaCO(3) was pptd. from waste distn. liq. from Solvay method and from satd. NaHCO(3) soln. in presence of urea (concn. 1 and 4 mol/L) at 333 K for 1-30 min. Apparent d. of the ppts. Increased while their water and paraffin oil absorbability decreased with increasing reaction time. The increase in urea concn. resulted in an increase in the apparent d. of the ppts. Formation of agglomerates was obsd. Calcite structure of the crystals was evidenced by SEM.
