The PhCH(2)NMe(2)RNO(3) (R = C(12)H(25) to C(14)H(29)) and (C(10)H(11))(2)NMe(2)NO(3) ionic liqs. were functionalized by addn. of NaCM-cellulose or Na polyacrylate in aq. solns. and used as biocides in a corn. film-forming latex of the CH(2)=CH(2)/CH(2)=CHOAc copolymer. The latex was studied for viscosity, elec. cond., pH, dispersion stability and coagulation ability (titrn. with Fe(NO(3))(3)). The latex films were dried at 20-120 degrees C and studied for softening temp. (decomp. at 350-360 degrees C) and the biocide leachability. The mass loss after 360 h long leaching was very low (0.1-0.25%).
