Physicochemical properties of TiO2/SiO2 oxide composites produced by nucleation of reaction system
TiO2/SiO2 composites were pptd. from aq. soln. of TiOSO4 and Na2SiO3 (water glass) in H2O-C6H12 emulsion by using Me(CH2)(8)C3H4O(CH2CH2O)(n)H (n = 3 or 6) as surface-active compds. and rutile cryst. nuclei at room temp. under stirring (16000 rpm) for 15 min, dried at 105 degrees C, calcined at 950 degrees C for 1 h and studied for particle size distribution, surface morphol., sp. surface area, total pore vol., mean pore size, wettability and chem. comp. of the surface. The composites showed mixed anatase-rutile structure, a broad polydispersity index (0.140-0.368 at max. amt. of rutile nuclei) pore vol. 0.01-0.07 cm(3)/g and pore size 1.4-8.1 nm. No effect of rutile nuclei addn. on wettability was obsd.
