Effect of humic compounds on the corrosion aggressiveness of water under operating conditions of circulating cooling water systems
Humic acids were added to artificial cooling water (concn. 5-50 mg/L) used as a medium for testing corrosion resistance of a C steel. The cooling water contained CaCl2, Na2SO4 and NaHCO3 (concns. 4.50, 2.25 and 4.00 mmole/L, resp.). The addn. of humic acids resulted in a decrease in corrosion rate from 0.55 mm/yr down to even 0.33 mg/yr.
