Phytopathogenic fungus Alternaria alternate was used for bioredn. of PhAc and its several derivatives and analogs to resp. secondary alcs. The enantiospecificity, calcd. as an enantiomeric excess (ee), did not depend on the reaction time. The presence of some electronegative substituents (F, NO3) resulted in substantial decrease in the enantioselectivity.
