Keto-enol tautomerism of 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole. Spectroscopic studies
2-(4-Fluorophenyl)-5-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole (FBT) was used as model for examn. of solvent effects on keto-enol tautomerism of 1,3,4 thiadiazole derivatives. The spectroscopic expts. were carried out in solvents of various polarizability. In non-polar solvents of high polarizability, the keto form, while in the more polar solvents of low polarizability the enol form of FBT was predominant.
