In the analysis of roughness development during metal electrodeposition, it is necessary to take into consideration that total polarizability dE/di is not equal to the sum of activation and concentration polarizabilities but exceeds it. In specific cases one has to consider, in addition, the conductivity and leveling action of the electrolyte.
