Preparation and Electrochemistry of a Modified Electrode by Electro-Oxidative Polymerization of Copper and Cobalt Complexes of 2,6-Diacetylpyridine Mono(Ethylenediamine)
Copper and cobalt complexes of the half unit 2,6-diacetylpyridine mono(ethylenediamine) have been prepared and characterized using analytical, spectral, and magnetic measurements. The oxidation polymerization of these complexes on Pt electrodes has been carried out in CH3CN and dimethylformamide (DMF). The redox properties of the formed polymeric films have been examined by cyclic voltammetry. In both DMF and CH3CN, the Cu complex formed a stable film while the Co complex formed a stable film only in CH3CN. The films showed single pairs of coupled peaks corresponding to Cu(II)/Cu(I) and Co(II)/Co(I) redox systems.
