Qualification tests of synthetic hydrocarbon fuels by using model fuels
Two artificial fuels were prepd. by mixing n-octane with n-undecane and n-pentadecane with n-heptadecane (1:1 by vol.) and added to a corn. motor fuel for aviation (10-50% by vol.). The resulted fuels were studied for phys. and chem. properties for feeding a test engine at varying rotational speed (39000 to 112000 rpm) and for compn. of combustion gases. The content of CO and hydrocarbons in combustion gases decreased with increasing rotational speed both for com. fuel and for its blends with artificial ones. The hydrocarbon contents in combustion gases of the blends were higher than that of the corn. fuel at the highest rotational speed. The test was verified as useful for studying new fuel blends.
