Ozone cracking can present a serious problem in the rubber industry and much work has been done to minimise the risk of failure due to ozone degradation. Solutions which have been proposed to avoid ozone degradation are: the use of an ozone resistant polymer, the design of the rubber part to avoid strain, the use of an ozone-resistant coating, suitable compounding.
