From a processing and economic point of view, advantages and disadvantages of cold runner moulds must be rated carefully. The mould designer can choose between different design variations which must be judged from processing aspects. For doing this, a cai culation of rheological and thermal criteria is necessary. The use of cold runner moulds in the production requires trained staff and careful maintenance. Several aspects oi cold runner moulds will be discussed in this article.
