Analysis of anisometry via projected area and dynamic shape ellipsoid properties in simulated and actual carbon black aggregates
Carbon black aggregates were found to have overall levels of anisometry similar to groups of 500 synthetic aggregates, The mean maximum area change for low structure synthetic aggregates was found to be 35 %, indicating substantial anisometry. As expected for synthetic aggregates, anisometry decreased with increasing number of particles in the aggregates, This trend is opposite that observed for actual carbon black aggregates reported in previous work. Anisometry parameters derived from the dynamic shape ellipsoids correlated well with visual observations and provided a good means of characterizing the overall anisometry of these aggregates.
