The aim of designers and product developers is to be able to provide plastic prototypes not only as specimens for approval, made of polyurethane or casting resin, but also as functional samples made of the same material as for mass production. This goal is giving a boost to rapid-tooling technologies. The decision as to which process is best suited to a particular application depends on a number of factors.
