In-Situ Measurement of Stress Generated During Electrocrystallization of Fe-Ni Alloys
The flexible beam technique was used to measure in situ the internal stress generated during electrocrystallization of Fe-Ni alloys from chloride electrolyte. The evolution of stress during deposit growth was described for selected values of current density and electrolyte temperature. Microstructural and hardness changes accompanying various deposition conditions were assessed. The results were discussed in terms of the existing relationship between the magnitude of stress detected, and the corresponding microstructure and hardness of the deposits.
