Generalized transhipment model for targeting of multiple utilities in heat exchanger networks
A paper deals with a problem of utility cost minimization in heat exchanger network (HEN) design. A linear programming (LP) formulation has been developed for all types of utilities applied in industry including both point and non-point utilities. Optimization model accounts for such cases as heat transfer via pinches for fixed temperature range of non-point utilities and insufficient inlet temperature of a utility. Hence, the model takes into account all requirements of industrial scenario. Due to linearity of both goal function and constraints, the model can be easily solved even for large-scale tasks.
