Rubber for surface protection in flue gas desulfurization plants
In the past approximately 15 years, more than 10(6) m(2) of the steel surfaces in 15C scrubbers of the flue gas desulphurization plants were coated with rubber. The author explains in detail the rubber coatings as corrosion protection, names kinds of rubber coatings for individual components in a flue gas desulphurization plant (REA) and the experiences gained with these. Despite occuring problems - mostly due to the wrong choice of materials - rubber coatings in REAs have basically stood the test.
