"Sustainable Development" is a triple vision: preservation of the energy resources and protection of the environment, achievement of social values and justice within the present and for future generations, as well as sustainable economic development. The energy industry can make a major contribution to the achievement of this vision by making energy available to a growing world population on a secured, reasonably priced and environmentally compatible Long-term basis. The awareness to live in an indivisible world is the basic prerequisite for the energy industry to become a driving force of a sustainable economic, social and ecologic development. In this concert the energy industry needs to rely on government framework conditions promoting this development.
