Effect of Photoadditive on the Properties of Polymeric Dental Restorative Composites
Effect of camphorquinone (CQ) photoinitiator on the dental properties of polymeric dental restorative composites (PDRC) was investigated. The surface of the barium silicate filler (avg. diameter: 1 μm) was treated with γ-methacryloxypropyl-trimethoxysilane to improve the interfacial behavior between the resin matrix and filler. A visible light system was utilized to activate the resin matrix in PDRC and the contents of CQ were varied from 0.1 to 1.0 wt% based on 2,2'-bis-[4-(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl]propane/triethyleneglycoldimethacrylate (70/30 wt%/wt%) resin matrix. From the experimental results, it was discovered that the PDRC prepared using 0.5 wt% of CQ based on the resin matrix resulted in the finest dental properties.
