Coiled-tubing-drilling re-entry: Case history from east Kalimantan
As oil and gas developments mature, reservoir depletion reduces field energy, and fewer opportunities exist to drill new wells. In many fields, pay zones are bypassed during initial development to focus on the best zones. Bypassed thinly laminated formations and low-permeability zones can be economically attractive but present challenges. In two Indonesian fields, coiled-tubing (CT) drilling provided a cost-effective alternative to the use of a conventional drilling rig.
