Evaluation of dry-tree concepts
Dry completion by use of a surface wellhead platform is a viable alternative to subsea wet completions. Dry completions offer better reservoir testing and monitoring, drilling and workover capabilities, and lower operating costs because of well intervention ease. The full-length paper compares dry-tree platform concepts including the established spar and tension-leg platform (TLP) and several newly developed platform concepts. A single-column medium-draft floater and three- and four-colmnn extended-base TLP's (ETLP's) are the new platform concepts examined. A map of application domains for dry-tree platforms based on cost comparisons is presented.
