Correlations for the Prediction of Heat-Transfer to Liquid-Solid Fluidized-Beds
Five empirical correlations for the prediction of heat transfer to liquid-solid fluidized beds with three, four, five, six and seven constants were fitted to experimental data using the database as given in (Haid et al., Chem. Eng. Proc., 33 (1994) 211-225) comprising more than 2500 measured data. The average relative error of prediction and the standard deviation for the heat transfer coefficient were calculated. The simplest correlation with three constants and the most complex correlation with seven constants are compared for different liquid and solid properties. The comparison shows that there is no real improvement in the accuracy of predicting the heat transfer coefficient using more than three constants.
