The time consolidation of bulk solids on the example of viscoelastic granules
Many bulk solids of practical use consolidate with increasing storage time at rest. In the case of sticking EVA-copolymer particles a large number of experimental examinations were performed. The unconfined yield stress, the uniaxial tensile strength, and the adherent strength between two particles were analysed. The flattening of the particles due to the time consolidation at rest was measured microscopical. The time consolidation of EVA-copolymers in the considered range of temperature and storage time is based on the mechanism of viscoelastic flattening at the contact areas of the particles.
