Simulation as a Tool in-Process Design and Management for Production of Intracellular Enzymes
Bioprocesses often operate in intrinsically dynamic batch or semi-continuous mode. This paper describes the simulation using gPROMS, of the primary separation stages of a biochemical process, the production of alcohol dehydrogenase within yeast and its subsequent purification. It is shown that gPROMS allows us to simulate the combination of discrete and continuous units that are involved in the production and purification of biochemical products such as ADH.
