Mechanisms for Metal Oxide Particles Synthesized in Supercritical Water
E-mail:
Several metal oxide fine particles were synthesized from the aqueous metal salt solutions, varying experimental conditions. The synthesized particles were divided into three types (A, B, C) to investigate the synthetic mechanisms. Type A was a single metal oxide without a change in metal oxidation state. The synthetic mechanism included the hydrolysis and dehydration. Type B was a single metal oxide in the presence of a change in metal oxidation state. It was presumed that synthetic mechanism was proposed on the basis of the standard redox potential, E°. Type C was a complex metal oxide in the presence of a change in metal oxidation state. The proposed mechanism was influenced by the amount of OH- ion in the reactants.
