Effects of supersaturation and impurity on step advancement on TiO2 (110) faces grown from high-temperature solution
A crucible-free crystal growth method is newly designed to investigate growth mechanisms in a high-temperature solution phase, Although the method is applicable to crystals grown either in solution or through liquid-phase epitaxy (LPE), this paper focuses on growth in solution. Changes in as-grown surface morphologies and step separation are quantitatively investigated for their dependence on supersaturation and impurities. The observed effect of impurity is that advancing steps are pinned. A reliable solubility curve is also determined by this method.
