Research News: Textile composites are a class of materials in which reinforcement is provided by textile preforms. Owing to their unique combination of light weight, flexibility, strength, and toughness these materials have been used in reinforcement in both structural and other applications. New applications in advanced structural composites using 3-D braiding (see Figure) are reviewed.
