Two- and three-dimensional alignment and patterning of carbon nanotubes
Fabrication of 2D and 3D aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is focused on in this article, with particular emphasis being placed on the 3D alignment and patterning of CNTs directly via pyrolysis of iron(II) phthalocyanine. A possible mechanism for the formation of the resultant pillar shaped arrays and ring-like patterns (see Figure) is also suggested.
