Metal-coated cellulose fibers for use in composites applicable to microwave technology
A new type of conductive fiber (see Figure, scale bar represents 100 mu m) is presented, based on metallized cellulose, and suitable for use in microwave applications. These fibers are tough, strong, highly conductive, and inexpensive. Elastomer composites containing these fibers are produced, and analyzed over the range of 2 to 18 GHz.
