Measurements of transmittance of solar radiation through stearic acid: a latent heat storage material
This paper presents the experimental measurements of the transmittivity of commercial grade stearic acid. The effects of temperature and thickness on transmittance have been studied. The study indicates that the effect of temperature on the transmittance of stearic acid in the liquid phase is not significant. However, it is highly dependent on temperature during the solidification process. Because of its low thermal conductivity and high transmittivity, it can be used as a transparent insulating material.
