ACID-CATALYZED PRESSURE SYNTHESIS OF BENZYLMETHYLETHER FROM BENZYLAMINE AND METHANOL
Thermodynamic calculation has been carried out to show that the formation of benzylmethylether from benzylamine and methanol should be favoured by high pressure and temperature. This theoretical prediction has been substantiated by synthesising benzylmethylether in about 76% yield from benzylamine and methanol in the presence of hydrochloric acid at 517K and under reaction pressure of about 11.718 MPa.
