Convenient Procedures for the Laboratory Preparation of Borazine
A convenient, economical one-step synthetic procedure for the laboratory production of multigram quantities of borazine, B3N3H6. in 55 -65% yields has been developed based on the reaction of NaBH4 and (NH4)(2)SO4 in tetraglyme solution at 120-140 degrees C with continuous removal of the product in vacuo. be produced in comparable yields by the thermal decomposition of H3B.NH3 under similar conditions. In both cases, borazine is the only volatile product and is obtained in excellent purity by a single vacuum fractionation. [GRAPHICS]yK?
