Preparation and X-Ray Crystal-Structure of ((Eta(6)-Chrysene)(Eta(6)-4-Methylisopropylbenzene)-Ruthenium)(BF4)(2) and ((Eta(6)-Perylene)(Eta(6)-4-Methylisopropylbenzene)-Ruthenium)(BF4)(2)
Two new unsymmetrical dicationic ruthenium(arene) sandwich complexes, [(eta(6)-chrysene)(eta(6)-4-methylisopropylbenzene)ruthenium][BF4](2) and [(eta(6)-perylene)(eta(6)-4-methylisopropylbenzene)ruthenium][BF4](2), have been prepared and characterized crystallographically and spectroscopically by H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy. In both complexes the ruthenium(II) center coordinates in an eta 6 manner to the two arene ligands. Upfield chemical shifts are seen for the C atoms involved in coordination to the metal, and there are no substantial changes in the observed C-C bond lengths that would indicate any substantial degree of bond localization has occurred as a result of coordination to the metal.
