Synthesis and structures of new layered ternary manganese tellurides : AMnTe(2) (A = Li, Na)
New ternary manganese tellurides, AMnTe(2) (A = Li, Na), were synthesized by solid state and cation exchange reactions. Both structures feature layers formed by condensation of MnTe4 tetrahedra. MnTe4 tetrahedra share three corners in the formation of polar (infinity) 2[MnTe3/3Te](-)layers, the fourth Te is bound to only one Mn atom. The syntheses and structures of these compounds are presented and discussed.
