A ferromagnetic ring of six manganese(III) ions with a S=12 ground state
A complete reversal of magnetic coupling in transition-metal ion clusters can be achieved by varying the number of d electrons on the metal centers. Ferromagnetic Mn-III-Mn-III and a S = 12 ground state are observed in the cyclic complex [NaMn6(OMe)(12)(dbm)(6)](+), whereas the iron(III) analogue has S = 0.
