Effect of ClO2 Feeding Rate on Simultaneous Reaction of SO2 and NOx Removal by ClO2 |

The simultaneous removal of SO2 and NOx was investigated at fixed temperature of 45oC, pH of 3.5 and input concentration of 500ppm SO2 and 350ppm NO using chlorine dioxide in the lab-scale bubbling reactor. ClO2 was generated by reduction of sodium chlorate by sodium chloride in relatively concentrated sulfuric acid in a well stirred reactor. Concentration of input ClO2 in the reactor was analyzed using auto-titrator by iodometric titrations. To examine the effect on the simultaneous removal of SO2 and NOx, experiments were carried out at different flow rates of ClO2 i.e. 0.55, 0.73, 1.11 and 2.03 mmol/min respectively. The removal efficiency of SO2 and NOx were found about 97-99% and about 70% respectively under the optimized conditions. |
