Biocomposites are emerging as a viable alternative to glass-reinforced composites due to the fact that reduction of CO2 emission, increase of recylability for ELV regulation and reduction of car part are highly required. Natural fibers have advantages over man-made fibers in areas such as low costity, reduced energy consumption, carbon dioxide sequestration, and biodegradability. The combination of bio-fibers with polymer matrixes start to be used for automotive parts. However, due to their low adhesion to polymer, its physical properties are not as good as inorganic filler. Accordingly, the development of bio-fiber surface treatment, biopolymer modification, adequate processing techniques and useful coupling agents to improve fiber-matrix adhesion is highly required. In this study, we introduce application details in automotives using biocomposites and characteristics of natural fibers, in addition, we provide experimental data to enhance physical properties using coupling agents. |
