Uses of catalysts in environmental protection were reviewed. An original technological process for combustion of hard coal was developed using the idea of the DESONOX (desulfurization from sulfur oxides and NOx destruction) catalyst suitable for simultaneous desulfurization of the coal and destruction of NOx in the combustion chamber. Use of a monolith catalyst in the car converters for gasoline combustion engine was also described.
