Underground coal-winning is not easy for the workers involved. An air-conditioning system provides better working conditions. Thus, an innovative power generating plant based on the cogeneration of power, heat and cold water was put into operation in the Pniowek coal mine in Poland. This article decribes the particularities of the plant and gives an account of the first half year in operation.
